My new album, Another Plane Beyond Empiricism comes out July 29, 2022.
empirical adjective [ em-pir-i-kuhl ]
based on what is experienced or seen rather than on theory
derived from or guided by experience or experiment
provable or verifiable by experience or experiment
The album art is from one of the most beautifully photographed films of all time: Der heilige Berg [The Holy Mountain] by Arnold Fanck (1926).
They move forward, they pursue, they endure…quiet and confident. To me, this is the perfect representation that we cannot assess that which we don’t understand, or see what lies out of our vision path.
I interpret it as our divine creator who is often revealed outside of the empirical standards that give us clarity in this world. The album title is a declaration of divine existence and those who carry on knowing that there is another plane of existence beyond the boundaries of our physical world.
The album channels my desire to create beauty and process complex, oft difficult, human emotions while traversing in and out of what can be known and what cannot. It also encapsulates the accompanying ache of not being able to capture a moment in time and hold on to it.
Another Plane Beyond Empiricism is about the price of being human and the acknowledgment of the mysterious, divine hand beyond complete understanding.
